Mad River Greenway
Level: Easy
Distance: 1.3 miles out-and-back
The West Greenway starts at the parking lot off Meadow Road, just below Small Dog Electronics. A large MRPA signs marks the entrance to the Path. The West Greenway is a charming path along the Mad River, which is also protected by conservation and trail access easement donated by the Neill Farm and now owned by the Town of Waitsfield. The walk ends at a lovely gazebo where you can sit at the picnic table and enjoy the sounds and views of the Mad River as it winds its way further north. During the summer, you may also encounter Story Walk on the West Greenway. Story Walk is a wonderful event sponsored by the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Children’s stories are presented page by page along the path, so Path users can read the story as the walk. You have to finish the walk to find out the end of the story!
