Implementation Plan
The scoping study was completed in 2025. So what’s next?
We are hiring a corridor implementation coordinator! This new position, funded by the towns of Warren and Waitsfield, and the Mad River Path, will focus on funding, permitting, and administration of the project.
View position details.
We are continuing to pursue funding for the first mile of the Path from Ellen Lane to Riverside Park. At the same time, we are exploring other options for connecting Warren Village to Riverside Park.
We are pursuing the design and development of Segment 9 in Waitsfield that will connect the Austin Walk and Fiddlers Walk via a bike/ped bridge across the Mill Brook.
Kingsbury Greenway
The committee designated the Kingsbury Greenway section of the Path as our first project for 2026. The Path here will undergo a major upgrade, including widening and surfacing to meet the adaptive standards, and the accessibility reroute to bypass the stairs.
KINGSBURY GREENWAY ACCESSIBILITY IMPROVEMENTS TIMELINE
| What | Who | When |

| Bridge Foundation Stabilization | VT Techno Metal Post and MRP | August |
| Rebuild ramps, resurface the bridge | MRP | August |
| Reroute and widen the path, add aggregate surface | L&D Trailworks, MRP | August-September |
| Mural under the bridge | Mad River Arts | TBD |
phasing - 2026 and beyond
Phasing prioritizes segments that close the gaps between the existing sections of the Mad River Path. These are the “low-hanging fruit” opportunities, where the construction of a relatively short segment of the off-road path creates several miles of connectivity. Stay tuned for more updates as we move through phases of implementation.
*The VT 100 bridges at Wabanaki Recreation Area and Lareau Farm will be crossed via interim configurations (such as bollards separating bike/foot and vehicle traffic). ** Does not onclude Warren Village - Ellen Lane striping and Yestermorrow to Munn Field Segment
